Choose a difficulty level, then listen to each word and type the correct spelling. You will be tested on 10 words.
The game speaks a word out loud using your device's text-to-speech, and you type what you hear. There's a replay button if you need to hear it again. After you submit, the game shows you the correct spelling alongside what you typed, highlighting any differences letter by letter. Ten words per round.
English spelling is notoriously inconsistent — "through," "though," "thorough," and "thought" all look similar but sound different. This game leans into that difficulty. Easy mode uses short, phonetically regular words where the spelling matches the sound. Hard mode is where things get interesting: words with silent letters, double consonants, and vowel patterns that don't follow the rules.
The spelling test requires a device with working audio (your browser's built-in speech synthesis). Most modern browsers on desktop and mobile support this. If speech isn't available, you'll see a warning before the game starts.
