The name Francisco comes from the Latin Franciscus and entered English as a doublet of Francis through Romance languages like Portuguese and Spanish. As a moon of Uranus, it was named after the character Francisco in William Shakespeare's play The Tempest, following the tradition of naming these celestial bodies after his works.
